WELCOME

Emmie Strickland is a driven ballet dancer and conservation enthusiast located in New York City. She began dancing in her hometown Fredericksburg, Virginia, and attended summer intensives with several ballet companies throughout the country and abroad, from Nashville to Copenhagen. From 2012-2014, she was a trainee with Richmond Ballet, afterwards dancing with several other companies. In 2016-2017, Emmie danced with Nevada Ballet Theatre in Las Vegas, where she had the opportunity to perform multiple full-length ballets as well as perform in a collaborative performance with Cirque du Soleil artists. She most recently danced with New York-based company BalletNext, performing with them in the city and elsewhere.

It was in Nevada that Emmie began writing, taking on a staff writer position with arts and culture blog Cult of Americana in 2017. Topics she explores in her writing include the arts, wildlife, and connecting nature to the human experience.

In May 2020, Emmie graduated cum laude from Columbia University, where she studied environmental biology. She plans to work in conservation research and advocacy with this newly acquired education. Click here to read about her experiences in Kenya, where she led a research project on Cape buffalo and plains zebra.
